Terms of Service

Last updated: July 18, 2026

In Short

Be respectful, own your content, show up to events you register for, and understand that mentorship is guidance — not guarantees. We do our best to keep the platform secure and fair, but use it at your own risk.

01

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using EmberGround, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, you may not use the platform. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

02

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate, current information during registration. Impersonation, fake accounts, or bot usage is prohibited. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

03

Content & Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of content you post, including code, designs, and written work. By posting, you grant EmberGround a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content within the platform and in marketing materials. You warrant that you have the right to share everything you post.

04

Third-Party Services & OAuth

EmberGround uses Google Sign-In (Firebase Authentication) to verify your identity. We receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google. Mentors who schedule office hours may optionally authorize limited Google Calendar access so that event invites can be created and sent to participants automatically. You may revoke this authorization at any time from your Account Settings or Google Account security settings. EmberGround does not sell or share Google user data with advertisers or third parties.

05

Event Participation

Registration for events, office hours, and workshops is binding. No-shows without 24-hour notice may result in temporary suspension from future registrations. Events may be recorded for educational purposes. By attending, you consent to being recorded unless you opt out in writing 48 hours prior.

06

Hackathon & Challenge Rules

All submissions must be original work created during the challenge period. Plagiarism, use of pre-built codebases, or cheating results in immediate disqualification and potential ban. Team size limits and judging criteria are posted per event. Prize distribution follows the schedule announced at kickoff. Winners may be featured in marketing.

07

Mentorship Disclaimer

Mentorship advice, career guidance, and technical suggestions provided through EmberGround are opinions, not professional advice. EmberGround is not liable for employment outcomes, investment decisions, or technical implementations based on mentor guidance. Always verify critical decisions with qualified professionals.

08

Limitation of Liability

EmberGround is provided 'as-is' without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from platform use. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $100 if you paid nothing). This applies to data loss, service interruption, or content accuracy.

09

Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these terms, illegal activity, or prolonged inactivity. Upon termination, your content remains licensed to us for archival and leaderboard purposes, but will no longer be publicly displayed.

Governing Law & Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes will first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If unresolved, disputes will be submitted to binding arbitration in Delhi, India under the rules of the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. Class action lawsuits are waived.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
